I attended an Orff workshop in Shawnee, Kansas on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 9:00 - 4:30. Information from the workshop was shared with the other elementary music teachers in the district.
The Orff-Schulwerk Method combines music, movement, drama, and speech into lessons that are similar to a child’s world of play. Musical concepts are taught through singing, chanting, dance, movement, drama and playing instruments. Music is learned by being involved. The Orff-Schulwerk Method is a way of teaching children about music that engages their mind and body. This method introduces and teaches children about music on a level that they can easily comprehend. Improvisation and composition are encouraged.
Below are a few photos of some activities I have used in the classroom.
This is a resource build by the ESSD40 staff for to aid in transforming teaching and learning.
